Endomyocardial fibrosis (Q101687)

From determinar.ia.br - Determine suas informações
Endomyocardial fibrosis (Tropical endomyocardial fibrosis or Davies disease) is a restrictive cardiomyopathy characterised by endocardial fibrosis with characteristic obliteration of the ventricular apices and subvalvar regions. Additional information. This disorder occurs almost exclusively in tropical and subtropical regions. The fibrosis causes diastolic dysfunction, marked atrial enlargement and may affect the right ventricle (with tricuspid regurgitation), the left ventricle (with mitral regurgitation and severe pulmonary hypertension), or more commonly is biventricular. Histologically cellular infiltration is uncommon whilst interstitial oedema is frequently present.
