Motor neuron disease in Human immunodeficiency virus (Q101511)
From determinar.ia.br - Determine suas informações
Rapidly progressive motor neuron disease, mimicking ALS, has been identified in patients with HIV infection. Neuropathological studies are distinct from classical ALS, and may show inflammation and vacuolar myelopathy. CSF pleocytosis may also be identified. Treatment of HIV infection with highly-active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) improves motor weakness in most patients.
