Os estudos neuropatológicos são distintos da ELA clássica e podem mostrar inflamação e mielopatia vacuolar. Pleocitose do LCR também pode ser identificada. O tratamento da infecção pelo HIV com terapia antirretroviral altamente ativa (TARV) melhora a fraqueza motora na maioria dos pacientes. | |||
