As mudanças patológicas que ocorrem vários meses a anos após a irradiação craniana terapêutica. A incidência está relacionada à dose total de radiação e se a quimioterapia concomitante foi usada. As características clínicas incluem comprometimento cognitivo, demência, transtorno da marcha, disfunção hipotalâmica resultando em distúrbios endócrinos, neuropatia óptica e outras neuropatias cranianas e doenças vasculares. A diferenciação do tumor pode ser difícil com a neuroimagem convencional. Uma biópsia cerebral pode demonstrar tecido necrótico extenso sem predomínio de células malignas. Também ocorre perda de oligodendrócitos e desmielinização. | |||

The incidence is related to the total radiation dose and whether concurrent chemotherapy was used. Clinical features include cognitive impairment, dementia, gait disturbance, hypothalamic dysfunction resulting in endocrine disturbances, optic neuropathy and other cranial neuropathies and vascular disease. Differentiation from tumour can be difficult with conventional neuroimaging. A brain biopsy may demonstrate extensive necrotic tissue without a predominance of malignant cells. There is also loss of oligodendrocytes and demyelination. | |||
