When assessing length/height, infants and children under 24 months of age should be measured supine or lying down (length), while children 24 months of age and older should be measured standing up (height). In children 24 months and older that cannot stand up (e.g., disabilities, uncooperative children) and are measured lying down, the length measurement should be converted to height by subtracting 0.7 cm (the average difference between length and height in the WHO Child Growth Standards).
