Endomiocardiofibrose (endomiocardiofibrose tropical ou doença de Davies) é uma cardiomiopatia restritiva caracterizada por fibrose endocárdica com obliteração característica de ápices ventriculares e regiões subvalvares._x000D_ _x000D_ Informações adicionais. Este transtorno ocorre quase exclusivamente em regiões tropicais e subtropicais. A fibrose causa disfunção diastólica, aumento atrial acentuado e pode afetar o ventrículo direito (com regurgitação tricúspide), o ventrículo esquerdo (com regurgitação mitral e hipertensão pulmonar grave) ou mais comumente é biventricular. Histologicamente, infiltração celular é incomum, enquanto edema intersticial está frequentemente presente.

Endomyocardial fibrosis (Tropical endomyocardial fibrosis or Davies disease) is a restrictive cardiomyopathy characterised by endocardial fibrosis with characteristic obliteration of the ventricular apices and subvalvar regions. Additional information. This disorder occurs almost exclusively in tropical and subtropical regions. The fibrosis causes diastolic dysfunction, marked atrial enlargement and may affect the right ventricle (with tricuspid regurgitation), the left ventricle (with mitral regurgitation and severe pulmonary hypertension), or more commonly is biventricular. Histologically cellular infiltration is uncommon whilst interstitial oedema is frequently present.
