An infection of one or more peripheral nerves by a virus. The clinical features depend on which peripheral nerve or nerves are affected. Diagnosis is made by considering the clinical findings in the context of neuroimaging findings, spinal fluid analysis and culture, polymerase chain reaction tests, serologic tests, and biopsy where appropriate.
