Inhalation and dermal exposure to hydrogen cyanide result in gastrointestinal toxicity, pneumotoxicity, haematotoxicity, electrolyte abnormalities, neurotoxicity, thyroid toxicity, cardiac dysrhythmias and irritation of the eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Hydrogen cyanide exposure also is associated with a bitter almond taste and laryngeal spasm.
