Sarcoidosis in the orbital cavity (also called eye socket) presents with abnormal collections of granulomas (also known as non-caseating granulomas) consisting of chronic inflammatory cells. Orbital manifestations of sarcoidosis are common among patients with systemic sarcoidosis. Orbital sarcoidosis may coexist with asymptomatic systemic sarcoidosis and can precede systemic involvement by several years.
