Lower motor neuron signs and symptoms can appear in association with cancer and lymphoma and plasma cell dyscrasias. Motor neuron involvement is often termed as 'lower motor neurone' or 'subacute motor neuropathy' . Lower motor neurone symptoms and signs are often confined to lower extremities and have to be distinguished from other motor neurone diseases, neuropathies or radiation injury. Histologically a patchy loss of motor neurons occurs in the spinal cord, resulting in a distal muscle atrophy and weakness. Relation to antibodies : unclear.
