Thermal keratoses are keratotic lesions produced by chronic close proximity of the skin to sources of infrared radiation. Such sources include domestic fires, bed-warmers and heated stoves. They may be associated with erythema ab igne. Thermal keratoses have the potential to develop into invasive squamous cell carcinoma.
