Dystonia is a disorder of involuntary muscle contractions, which often appear as abnormal postures, twisting, or repetitive muscle movements. The torso and limbs are commonly affected. As primary and familial, the dystonia is the only abnormality of the nervous system apart from tremor and the disorder has a family history. Onset is in adulthood.
