Chronic secondary musculoskeletal pain associated with spondylosis is chronic axial pain in one or more spinal segments that is attributable to the structural changes that characterize spondylosis. This diagnosis should be given regardless of whether the exact mechanism of nociception can be determined. The diagnosis of spondylosis is based on clinical and/or radiological examination. The degree of spondylosis observed and the nature and severity of the pain may not be linearly related. The pain may be spontaneous or movement-induced.
