Envenomation following a bite by certain species of Australian funnel-web spiders of the subfamily Atracinae. The venom contains a mixture of neurotoxins which can rapidly result in agitation, confusion, pulmonary oedema, metabolic acidosis, elevated intracranial pressure and death.
