Este capítulo trata dos produtos naturais ou fabricados pelo homem ou sistemas de produtos, equipamentos e tecnologia no ambiente imediato do indivíduo que são reunidos, criados, produzidos ou manufaturados. A classificação ISO 9999:2016 dos dispositivos técnicos de auxílio define-os como "qualquer produto, instrumento, equipamento, ou sistema técnico utilizado por uma pessoa incapacitada, especialmente produzido ou geralmente disponível, que evite, compense, monitores, alivie ou neutraliza a incapacidade". No entanto, para os propósitos desta classificação dos fatores ambientais, os produtos e tecnologia de assistência são definidos mais estreitamente como qualquer produto, instrumento, equipamento ou tecnologia adaptado ou especialmente projetado para melhorar a funcionalidade de uma pessoa com uma condição de saúde. | |||
