This refers to a drug or chemical induced group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. This diagnosis is with unspecified diabetic retinopathy and without fluid and protein deposits collecting on or under the macula of the eye (a yellow central area of the retina) and causes it to thicken and swell (oedema).
