This refers to secondary non-arteritic ischemic damage to the optic nerve due to any cause. Damage and death of these nerve cells, or neurons, leads to characteristic features of optic neuropathy, unspecified. This diagnosis is associated with a decrease in number of red blood cells (RBCs) or less than the normal quantity of haemoglobin in the blood.
