Multiple mononeuropathy vasculitis with Wegener granulomatosis (Q106362): Difference between revisions

Wegner`s granulomatosis can be associated with both mononeuritis multiplex as well as symmetric neuropathies. Neuropathies may develop during the course of the disease. In addition to the features of multiplex neuropathy and symmetric neuropathies, cranial nerve involvement (II, extraocular nerves, V, VII, VIII, IX) occurs and are related to the characteristic granulomatous process. In addition system involvement of kidneys, airways and lung, and focal inflammation of the oral and nasal cavities. Histologically small and midsize vessel infiltration occurs, granulomas are more frequent in CN. Associated neural antibodies are: pANCA (Perinuclear Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies) and c-ANCA (Proteinase 3 Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies).
