Dor crônica pode ocorrer na polineuropatia no diabetes mellitus tipo 1 ou tipo 2. Dor pode ser o sintoma inicial de uma neuropatia ou se desenvolver durante o curso da doença. A dor pode ser espontânea ou evocada, como uma resposta aumentada a um estímulo doloroso (hiperalgesia) ou uma resposta dolorosa a um estímulo normalmente não doloroso (alodinia). Sinais ou sintomas sensoriais negativos (p.ex., diminuição ou perda da sensação) e positivos (p.ex., alodinia ou hiperalgesia) devem ser compatíveis com o padrão de distribuição anatômica da polineuropatia. | |||

Chronic pain may occur in polyneuropathy in type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus. Pain may be the initial symptom of a neuropathy or develop over the course of the disease. The pain may be spontaneous or evoked, as an increased response to a painful stimulus (hyperalgesia) or a painful response to a normally nonpainful stimulus (allodynia). Negative (e.g., decreased or loss of sensation) and positive sensory symptoms or signs (e.g., allodynia or hyperalgesia) must be compatible with the anatomical distribution pattern of the polyneuropathy. | |||
