Condição autossômica dominante assintomática comum que afeta as palmas das mãos principalmente de pessoas afrodescendentes. Caracteriza-se por tampões e depressões ceratóticas puntiformes, geralmente não maiores que 1-2 mm de diâmetro, confinados às pregas das palmas e às superfícies palmares dos dedos. Demonstrou-se que os tampões ceratóticos ocorrem diretamente acima do acrossiríngio de ductos sudoríparos écrinos. As depressões se desenvolvem quando os tampões de queratina se desprendem.

A common asymptomatic autosomal dominant condition affecting the palms principally of people of African descent. It is characterised by punctate keratotic plugs and pits, generally no more than 1-2 mm in diameter, confined to the creases of the palms and the palmar surfaces of the fingers. The keratotic plugs have been shown to occur directly above the acrosyringium of eccrine sweat ducts. Pits develop when the keratin plugs detach.
