Infecção de um ou mais nervos periféricos por bactérias. A infecção pode envolver a parte intraespinal ou extraespinal do nervo periférico. As manifestações clínicas dependem de qual nervo ou nervos periféricos são afetados. Pode haver outros sinais e sintomas sistêmicos dependendo do agente infeccioso. O diagnóstico é feito considerando os achados clínicos no contexto de achados de neuroimagem, análise e cultura do líquido cefalorraquidiano, testes de reação em cadeia da polimerase, testes sorológicos e biópsia quando apropriado. | |||

The clinical features depend on which peripheral nerve or nerves are affected. There may be other systemic signs and symptoms depending on the infectious agent.
