Scombroid fish poisoning is due to histamine intoxication from ingestion of decomposing scombroid fish (principally tuna and mackerel). Symptoms include flushing, sweating, vomiting and diarrhoea. Bacterial degradation of histidine is thought to be the source of histamine in the spoiled fish.
