A dermatosis of poorly understood aetiology affecting principally the chest, shoulders and upper arms of young black men and characterised by a disseminated low-grade spongiotic dermatitis involving the infundibula of multiple adjacent follicles. It manifests clinically as sheets of small monomorphic pruritic papules.
