Dysmenorrhea associated with ovulatory cycles without demonstrable disease or pelvic pathology, caused by myometrial ischemia due to frequent and prolonged uterine contractions. Pain begins a few hours before or just after the onset of menstruation and may last up to 48 or 72 hours.
