Stimulant-induced mood disorder including amphetamines, methamphetamine and methcathinone but excluding caffeine, cocaine and synthetic cathinones, with manic symptoms is characterised by the presence of manic symptoms judged to be the direct consequence of stimulant use. Depressive symptoms are not present. The symptoms are not better accounted for by a bipolar disorder, as might be the case if the manic symptoms preceded the onset of the stimulant use or if the symptoms persist for a substantial period of time after cessation of stimulant use.
