Diabetic foot gangrene is dead (also called necrotic) tissue in the foot resulting from inadequate blood flow supply, is one of the manifestations of critical limb ischemia. Foot ulcers in patients with diabetes are at an increased risk of foot gangrene, mainly due to peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and foot infections. Foot gangrene can be classified into two types: dry gangrene with ischemic tissue but no infection, and wet gangrene with both infectious and necrotic tissue.
