Motor neuropathy can present in a symmetric and multifocal distribution. Sensory involvement is absent or minimal. Upper extremities and bulbar muscles are spared. Some patients develop progressive asymmetric lower motor syndromes with predominant early weakness in proximal musculature (P-LMN syndromes) These can be associated with antibody binding to GA1 ganglioside. LMND are characterised by a progressive course, different to the demyelinating neuropathies as CIDP and multifocal neuropathy with conduction block. Associated antibodies can be GM1.
