An uncommon manifestation of Crohn disease involving cutaneous sites not contiguous with the gastrointestinal tract. It may present as cutaneous ulcers, plaques, papules or nodules. It has a predilection for the genitalia, where it may cause lymphoedema. Other recognised sites include the skin folds, infra-mammary area and the limbs. It may precede or follow its presentation in the gastrointestinal tract. There is little correlation between the activity of the cutaneous and intestinal disease.
