A disease of the brain caused by an infection with Junin virus. This disease is characterised by fever, neurological impairments, tremors, convulsions, or coma. Transmission is through haematogenous spread to the brain after inhalation, consumption, or direct contact with excretions and body fluids from infected rodents. Confirmation is by identification of Junin virus.
