An indolent chronic B-cell leukaemia resembling classic hairy cell leukaemia but shows variant cytologic, hematologic, and immunophenotypic features and is resistant to the conventional therapy applied to hairy cell leukaemia. Biologically, it is not related to hairy cell leukaemia.
