A sinusite fúngica alérgica (SFA) é uma forma não invasiva de rinossinusite hipertrófica alérgica crônica altamente recorrente, com pólipos nasais e ocasionalmente proptose. Apresenta-se como inflamação eosinofílico-linfocítica da mucosa do seio da face, com mucina alérgica extramucosa e hifas fúngicas dispersas, positivas para coloração de prata, dentro da mucina alérgica, mas não na mucosa.

Allergic fungal sinusitis (AFS) is a noninvasive form of highly recurrent chronic allergic hypertrophic rhinosinusitis, with nasal polyps and occasionally proptosis. It shows the presence of eosinophilic-lymphocytic sinus mucosal inflammation, extramucosal allergic mucin and scattered silver stain positive fungal hyphae within the allergic mucin but not in the mucosa.
