A polimicrogiria (PMG) é uma malformação cortical cerebral caracterizada por dobramento cortical excessivo e por sulcos rasos. O exame microscópico revela estratificação cortical anormal. A distribuição topográfica da PMG é variável, mas a PMG perisylviana simétrica bilateral é a forma mais frequente. PMG se manifesta por déficit intelectual leve, epilepsia e paralisia pseudobulbar, que causa dificuldades no aprendizado da fala e na alimentação. A gravidade da PMG é altamente dependente da localização e tamanho da área afetada. | |||

Topographic distribution of PMG is variable, but bilateral symmetrical perisylvian PMG (BPP) is the most frequent form. PMG is manifested by mild intellectual deficit, epilepsy, and pseudobulbar palsy, which causes difficulties with speech learning and feeding.
