Condição causada por falha do tubo neural em fechar completamente durante o desenvolvimento fetal. A condição é caracterizada por massas lombossacrais cobertas por pele, uma meningocele revestida de aracnoide que tem continuidade com o espaço subaracnoide espinal e uma medula espinal hidromélica baixa que atravessa a meningocele e se expande em um grande cisto terminal. Essa condição pode se apresentar com dano neural e consequente comprometimento de funções abaixo da localização da mielocistocele. | |||

The condition is characterised by skin covered lumbosacral masses, an arachnoid lined meningocele that is directly continuous with the spinal subarachnoid space, and a low lying hydromyelic spinal cord that traverses the meningocele and expands into a large terminal cyst. This condition can present with neural damage and consequent impairment of function below the site of the myelocystocele. | |||

The condition is characterised by skin covered lumbosacral masses, an arachnoid lined meningocele that is directly continuous with the spinal subarachnoid space, and a low lying hydromyelic spinal cord that traverses the meningocele and expands into a large terminal cyst. This condition can present with neural damage and consequent impairment of function below the site of the myelocystocele.
