Dermatite perianal do recém-nascido se apresenta com eritema perianal durante a primeira semana de vida, que nas formas mais graves pode evoluir para edema e erosão superficial da pele perianal. Embora geralmente ocorra de forma isolada, a dermatite perianal às vezes pode estar associada à dermatite irritativa primária da fralda. É mais comum em recém-nascidos que recebem formulações de leite de vaca do que em recém-nascidos amamentados; presume-se que represente uma irritação em resposta aos constituintes fecais. | |||

Perianal dermatitis of the newborn presents with perianal erythema during the first week of life, which in more severe forms may progress to oedema and superficial erosion of perianal skin. Although it usually occurs alone, perianal dermatitis may sometimes be associated with primary irritant napkin dermatitis. It is commoner in infants receiving cow's milk formulations than in breast-fed infants; it is assumed that it represents an irritant response to faecal constituents.
