Doença do cordão umbilical que acomete recém-nascidos, comumente causada por uma infecção por uma fonte bacteriana. Esta doença é caracterizada por secreção purulenta ou malcheirosa do umbigo ou coto umbilical, eritema periumbilical, edema ou sensibilidade. Ela também pode se manifestar com febre, hipotermia, icterícia, taquicardia, hipotensão, taquipneia, desconforto respiratório, apneia ou distensão abdominal com ausência de ruídos intestinais. A transmissão ocorre por transmissão vertical ou transmissão iatrogênica. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do agente infeccioso. | |||

This disease is characterised by purulent or foul-smelling discharge from the umbilicus or umbilical stump, periumbilical erythema, oedema, or tenderness. This disease may also present with fever, hypothermia, jaundice, tachycardia, hypotension, tachypnoea, respiratory distress, apnoea, or abdominal distention with absent bowel sounds. This disease is characterised by purulent or foul-smelling discharge from the umbilicus or umbilical stump, periumbilical erythema, oedema, or tenderness. This disease may also present with fever, hypothermia, jaundice, tachycardia, hypotension, tachypnoea, respiratory distress, apnoea, or abdominal distention with absent bowel sounds. Transmission is by vertical transmission or iatrogenic transmission. Confirmation is by identification of the infectious agent.
