Doença causada por uma infecção pelo vírus sincicial respiratório. É caracterizada por uma condição inflamatória dos pulmões comumente afetando os alvéolos (pneumonia), levando a tosse, espirros, febre ou chieira torácica. Esta doença pode ser grave em bebês prematuros e naqueles com doença concomitante ou imunossupressão. A transmissão ocorre por contato direto, transmissão por gotículas, ou contato indireto com secreções respiratórias infectadas. A confirmação é feita pela identificação do vírus sincicial respiratório, comumente por meio de detecção de antígenos ou cultura de células. | |||
