A etiologia subjacente é uma combinação de sensibilidade alterada por neuropatia diabética e perfusão comprometida por vasculopatia diabética. Cuidado inadequado com os pés, estrutura anormal do pé ou sapatos mal ajustados aumentam o risco de úlceras nos pés diabéticos. Chronic foot ulcers occur in as many as 15–25% of diabetic patients. The underlying aetiology is a combination of disturbed sensation from diabetic neuropathy and impaired perfusion from diabetic vasculopathy. Poor foot care, abnormal foot structure, or poorly fitting shoes increase the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. The ulcers typically occur in areas of increased plantar pressure, especially beneath the metatarsal heads. | |||
