Perda auditiva condutiva ocorre quando há um problema na condução de ondas sonoras em qualquer lugar ao longo da rota através de orelha externa, membrana timpânica (tímpano) ou orelha média (ossículos). Perda auditiva neurossensorial é um tipo de perda auditiva em que a causa está no nervo vestibulococlear (nervo craniano VIII), na orelha interna ou nos centros de processamento central do cérebro. Este diagnóstico refere-se a uma mistura de perda auditiva condutiva e neurossensorial.
