Transtorno do ritmo circadiano de sono-vigília, tipo turno de trabalho é caracterizado por queixas de insônia e/ou sonolência excessiva que ocorrem como resultado dos turnos de trabalho que se sobrepõem com todos ou com uma parte dos períodos de sono noturno convencionais. O transtorno é também associado a uma redução no tempo total de sono. Os sintomas devem ter persistido por pelo menos vários meses e resultam em desconforto significativo ou prejuízo mental, físico, social, ocupacional ou acadêmico.

The disorder is also associated with a reduction in total sleep time. The symptoms should have persisted for at least several months and result in significant distress or mental, physical, social, occupational or academic impairment.
