Enurese é a eliminação repetida de urina nas roupas ou na cama, que pode ocorrer durante o dia ou à noite, em um indivíduo que alcançou uma idade de desenvolvimento na qual na qual a continência urinária é normalmente esperada (5 anos). A incontinência urinária pode estar presente desde o nascimento (i.e., uma extensão atípica da incontinência infantil normal), ou pode ter surgido após um período em que o controle vesical havia sido adquirido. Na maioria dos casos, o comportamento é involuntário, mas em alguns casos parece intencional. A enurese não deve ser diagnosticada se a eliminação não intencional da urina for devida a uma condição de saúde que interfere com a continência (p. ex., doenças do sistema nervoso ou transtornos musculoesqueléticos), ou a anormalidades congênitas ou adquiridas do trato urinário. | |||

Enuresis is the repeated voiding of urine into clothes or bed, which may occur during the day or at night, in an individual who has reached a developmental age when urinary continence is ordinarily expected (5 years). The urinary incontinence may have been present from birth (i.e., an atypical extension of normal infantile incontinence), or may have arisen following a period of acquired bladder control. In most cases, the behaviour is involuntary but in some cases it appears intentional. Enuresis should not be diagnosed if unintentional voiding of urine is due to a health condition that interferes with continence (e.g., diseases of the nervous system or musculoskeletal disorders) or by congenital or acquired abnormalities of the urinary tract. | |||
