O desempenho do indivíduo na habilidade acadêmica relevante é marcantemente inferior ao esperado para a idade cronológica e o nível de funcionalidade intelectual, e resulta em comprometimento significativo na funcionalidade acadêmica ou ocupacional do indivíduo.
