Transtorno do desenvolvimento da linguagem com comprometimento principalmente da linguagem pragmática é caracterizado por dificuldades persistentes e marcantes na compreensão e no uso da linguagem em contextos sociais, por exemplo, fazer inferências, compreender humor verbal e resolver significados ambíguos. Essas dificuldades surgem durante o período de desenvolvimento, tipicamente durante a primeira infância, e causam limitações significativas na habilidade do indivíduo de se comunicar. As habilidades de linguagem pragmática são marcantemente inferiores ao nível esperado dados a idade e o nível de funcionalidade intelectual do indivíduo, mas os outros componentes da linguagem receptiva e expressiva estão relativamente intactos. Esse qualificador não deve ser usado se a deficiência na linguagem pragmática for melhor explicada por Transtorno do Espectro Autista ou por deficiências em outros componentes da linguagem receptiva ou expressiva. | |||
