Xantomas tuberosos são nódulos firmes amarelo-avermelhados que ocorrem sobre locais de pressão: geralmente indicam a presença de hiperlipidemia tipo 3 (hiperlipoproteinemia tipo III). Começam como pequenos xantomas, geralmente sobre as faces extensoras de cotovelos e joelhos, mas podem evoluir para lesões exofíticas bastante exuberantes, com vários centímetros de diâmetro e altura. Podem se desenvolver em outros locais de pressão, particularmente em calcanhares e superfícies plantares dos pés. | |||

Tuberous xanthomas are firm yellow-red nodules that occur over sites of pressure: they usually indicate the presence of hyperlipidaemia type 3 (Type III hyperlipoproteinaemia). They start as small xanthomas, usually over the extensor aspects of the elbows and knees, but can develop into quite exuberant exophytic lesions several centimetres in diameter and height. They can develop over other pressure sites particularly the heels and plantar surfaces of the feet. | |||
