Primary hyperparathyroidism is a condition with enhanced PTH (parathyroid hormone) secretion and high circulatory PTH level caused by abnormal parathyroid pathology such as adenoma, hyperplasia and cancer. Primary hyperparathyroidism usually causes hypercalcaemia by enhanced PTH actions.
