Doença causada por uma infecção pelo verme parasita Hymenolepis. Esta doença é comumente assintomática. Esta doença pode se manifestar com náuseas, fraqueza, dor abdominal, diarreia ou vômito. A transmissão ocorre pela ingestão de ovos comumente em alimentos ou água contaminados, ou ingestão de artrópodes infectados. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de ovos de Hymenolepis em uma amostra de fezes.

Transmission is by the ingestion of eggs commonly in contaminated food or water, or ingestion of infected arthropods. Confirmation is by identification of Hymenolepis eggs in a faecal sample.
