Doença causada por uma infecção pelo verme parasita Schistosoma japonicum. Esta doença é caracterizada por febre de Katayama, granulomas perissinusoidais hepáticos, fibrose periportal (fibrose de Symmers) ou hipertensão portal. Esta doença também pode se manifestar com granulomas embólicos que se formam em torno dos ovos localizados no cérebro ou na medula espinal. A transmissão ocorre por contato direto com água doce contaminada com ovos do Schistosoma japonicum ou caramujos que carregam o Schistosoma japonicum. A confirmação é feita pela identificação dos ovos do Schistosoma japonicum em uma amostra de fezes. | |||

This disease is characterised by Katayama fever, hepatic perisinusoidal egg granulomas, Symmers’ pipe stem periportal fibrosis, or portal hypertension. This disease may also present with embolic egg granulomas in the brain or spinal cord. Transmission is by direct contact with freshwater that has been contaminated with Schistosoma japonicum eggs or snails that carry Schistosoma japonicum. Confirmation is by identification of the Schistosoma japonicum eggs in a faecal sample. | |||

This disease is characterised by Katayama fever, hepatic perisinusoidal egg granulomas, Symmers’ pipe stem periportal fibrosis, or portal hypertension. This disease may also present with embolic egg granulomas in the brain or spinal cord. Transmission is by direct contact with freshwater that has been contaminated with Schistosoma japonicum eggs or snails that carry Schistosoma japonicum. Confirmation is by identification of the Schistosoma japonicum eggs in a faecal sample.
