Doença causada por uma infecção pelo parasita protozoário Leishmania. Esta doença é caracterizada por febre bifásica, hepatoesplenomegalia, pancitopenia, consumpção, escurecimento da pele, ou pode ser assintomática. A transmissão ocorre através da picada de um flebotomíneo fêmea infectado. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Leishmania em uma amostra de tecido ou sangue, ou detecção de anticorpos contra Leishmania. | |||
