Doença do cérebro, causada por uma infecção pelo parasita protozoário Plasmodium falciparum. Esta doença comumente se apresenta com clareamento da retina, esplenomegalia, anemia, trombocitopenia, hipoglicemia, disfunção pulmonar, disfunção renal ou alterações neurológicas. Esta doença também pode se manifestar com febre, calafrios, dor de cabeça, mialgia, artralgia, fraqueza, vômitos ou diarreia. A transmissão ocorre por meio da picada de um mosquito infectado. A confirmação é feita pela identificação de Plasmodium falciparum em uma amostra de sangue. | |||

This disease commonly presents with retinal whitening, splenomegaly, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hypoglycaemia, pulmonary dysfunction, renal dysfunction, or neurologic changes. This disease may also present with fever, chills, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, weakness, vomiting, or diarrhoea. Transmission is through the bite of an infected mosquito. Confirmation is by identification of Plasmodium falciparum in a blood sample. | |||

This disease commonly presents with retinal whitening, splenomegaly, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hypoglycaemia, pulmonary dysfunction, renal dysfunction, or neurologic changes.
