É a formação de um coágulo sanguíneo dentro de um vaso sanguíneo, obstruindo o fluxo de sangue pelo sistema circulatório, em caso de alojamento de um êmbolo (uma massa intravascular desprendida capaz de obstruir os leitos capilares arteriais em localização distante de sua origem) em um estreito vaso capilar de um leito arterial, o que causa um bloqueio (oclusão vascular) em uma parte distante do corpo, originando em trombo mural.

This is the formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel, obstructing the flow of blood through the circulatory system, in the event of lodging of an embolus (a detached intravascular mass capable of clogging arterial capillary beds at a site far from its origin) into a narrow capillary vessel of an arterial bed which causes a blockage (vascular occlusion) in a distant part of the body, from mural thrombus.
