Refere-se a um grupo de doenças metabólicas induzidas por drogas ou produtos químicos em que uma pessoa tem alto nível de açúcar no sangue, seja porque o pâncreas não produz insulina suficiente ou seja porque as células não respondem à insulina que é produzida.
